We all look forward to this weekend!
The three-day weekend that essentially kicks off the summer. We all have plans to travel, grill out, or attend some big sales at the mall; but we all seem to forget the true meaning of this federal holiday.
People tend to complain that we’ve lost the true meaning of many holidays throughout the year. But on Memorial Day, remembering our fallen soldiers doesn’t have the same requirements. The only requirement is that you understand the word sacrifice.
It does not matter if you are Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, pro-war, anti-war. We should all take some time and come together on this day…not the whole weekend…just Monday, and remember what the holiday means and how we’re supposed to observe it.
Decoration Day 1868.
Memorial Day, originated as Decoration Day, is set aside as a day to remember the ones who paid the ultimate price while serving in the country’s armed forces. This special day came about after the American Civil War in 1868 and was established as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of soldiers.
Work Hard, Play Hard.
Now, don’t get us wrong and think that you can’t have fun this weekend. We believe that relaxing after a long, hard week is essential to ones mental wellness. But while you relax and enjoy that delicious burger or beautiful beach view, take a moment to remember the husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters that didn’t come home from war.
BlueGrace Logistics would like to wish you a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and an enjoyable time with your family and friends.
